Museums, Galleries in Malta

With over 7000 years of history it's no surprise that there are a variety of museums and art galleries catering for everyone's taste dotted around the Maltese islands. The National Museum of Archaeology in Valletta contains artefacts from Malta's numerous archaelogical sites. The interior of St. John's Cathedral represents the height of achievement in the arts from the time of the Knights of St. John. and houses the masterpiece "The beheading of St. John the Baptist" by Caravaggio. Also in Valletta one can find the Grand Masters' Palace containing a large selection of armour and weapons. Additionally there are 2 museums related to World War II - the Lascaris War Rooms and the National War Museum.

The Malta Classic Car Museum displays around 100 classic cars and motorbikes with mannequins and memorabilia giving a real feel for the golden age of motoring.
Malta Aviation Museum
Outskirts of Attard, Ta' Qali
A popular destination for aviation enthusiasts, this museum is spread over 3 hangers and features aircraft from the wartime and post-war periods.
Malta Maritime Museum
Birgu Waterfront, Birgu
Largest museum in Malta, opened in 1992 and contains around 20,000 artifacts
